When Using Wrought Iron Wall Décor, Is Large Better than Small?

Wrought iron wall décor comes in a huge variety of sizes these days. In the beginning of their popularity, there was one basic size, about the size of an eight by ten photograph, which dominated the market. Now, with their increasing popularity and the increasing creativity of the designers, you can find wrought iron wall décor anywhere from the size of a one inch picture frame to the size of a longboard that barely fits on your longest wall. With the increase in options comes an increase in questions. You know that you love the wrought iron wall décor but you are unsure of how to fill your available space with as much style and class as possible.

Large iron wall décor can be fantastically perfect in so many homes. Sometimes, going big is the only way to go. If you have a home with a vast amount of wall space either along a staircase, a large open landing, or an extra room between rooms that doesn’t have much usefulness, large iron wall décor can go perfectly in these sorts of areas. Normally, decorating off the wall space is like decorating for the Mighty Joe King, the gorilla faced tycoon who can never be satisfied. Photographs don’t go well there because they look awkward. Regular wall hangings often look out of place in these areas. But one stunning piece of large iron wall décor gives an out of the ordinary space its own sense of personality and charm, and often the space looks perfectly designed for the hanging. A simple set of sconces hung on either side, and your useless wall now has style, personality, purpose, and of course, majestic trimming.

Of course, these unusual and otherwise seemingly unusable spaces are not the only places for large iron wall décor . Placing them on the wall in the living room, for instance, or along the wall in a large hallway, or even right over your bed in the bedroom is just a bolder move. And we all know that a bold decorating style is either wonderful or terrible, and often we really don’t know until we try. If you’re contemplating going with large iron wall decor it almost goes without saying that your piece should be the only piece on the wall, with the exception of lighting accent pieces, such as wall candle sconces. Lighting accent pieces can give the larger piece just a bit more bold flair. These pieces work best in rooms that are sparsely decorated, but not meager. Textured walls make a stunning backdrop for these larger pieces. Colorful walls, such as plum or mauve, can also make a tremendous backdrop for these large pieces.

If you are unsure, as we do understand that often going bold and stepping away from the ordinary “safe” things in life can make a person uneasy, planning a secondary place might ease your mind. Knowing that your heart really wants to try placing large iron wall décor in the living room, taking up the entire wall, but being afraid that the piece won’t look right, you might want to decide that you could also put the same piece in another room, where it won’t feel as bold. When we have options, we feel more comfortable taking bigger steps.
